Favourite Romance Novels

If you are looking for you next read, worry not. Here's my top 5 favourite romance novels. If you are hopelessly romantic, you would definitely love these recommendations. Four of these books are also adapted into movies.

1. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Scence from the movie 'Me Before You'

Me Before You (Hardcover)

Admist the backdrop of rich and working class, is the love story of Louisa & William. Me Before You is about love, taking risks, exploring who you are and who you want to be. Lou is so kind, caring, quirky, and full of colour. Will is wise, handsome, and has some quirks of his own. There are so many components of their life, that got left out in the movie.

P.S. : Me Before You is a Trilogy. The sequel books are 'After You' and 'Still Me'. I haven't read the other two, but I'm looking forward to it. Also a novella 'Lou in Lockdown'. If you have read all the 3 novels, tell me about it in the comments below.

2. A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks

A dialogue from the film 'A Walk to Remember'

A Walk to Remember (Paperback)

The movie takes a different road, than the book. Personally, I loved the book more than the movie. Landon and Jamie's love goes through a difficult journey, but the final destination is full of love and happiness.

3. The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks

A scence from the movie 'The Last Song'

The Last Song (Hardcover)

This is the movie that starred sweethearts Liam and Miley. When I was reading, I could only picture them. This book is about Veronica aka Ronnie. Her love for music helps to reconnect with her estranged father. Also there is Will, Ronnie's love interest.

4. Dear John by Nicholas Sparks

A line from the book 'Dear John'
Dear John (Paperback)
The book is delightful, but to be honest, I did not like the movie. Again (like 'A Walk To Remember'), the movie took a different turn. Don't want to give much away, I would just say that the fault in their stars makes their love story even more beautiful.

5. The Siren by Kiera Cass

Book cover of 'The Siren'
The Siren (Paperback)
The Siren is a love story about Kahleen and Akinli. This story is also about friendships, love and the Mother Ocean. No pirates falling head over heels in love with gorgeous mermaids, but instead we have the Ocean occasionally feasting on people. You got to read to know more.

If you want to watch the movie, I would say, always watch it before reading the book. The world created by your imagination is much enormous than the movie. You may or may not be disappointed by the movie, but you will never be disheartened by the book.

  1. Hey Abigail, I'm in awe with those books too, especially 'me before you' and 'the last song', though romance is not my taste. I go for random books, but to explore with different genres, it will be good to kick start with;twinkle khanna's-Mrs funny bones and a biography of , apj Abdul kalam 'wings of fire' which is written by himself. Have a good day.
