Women Empowerment

"Feminism isn’t about making women strong. Women are already strong. It’s about changing the way the world perceives that strength." – G. D. Anderson

WHAT DOES WOMEN EMPOWERMENT MEAN?

Women Empowerment is the process in which women elaborate & recreate what it is to be in a circumstance, that they were previously denied. It means accepting & allowing people (women) who are on the outside of the decision – making process into it. It refers to making women powerful to make them capable of deciding for themselves.

We call our planet Mother Earth. We call our nation Mother India. We belong to a country of passionate devotees of numerous powerful Goddesses like Durga Maa (known for her strength), Saraswati Devi (Goddess of Wisdom), Maa Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth & Abundance), and Kali Maa (the Fierce representation of Shakti). Yet the women in our country are looked down upon by the society.

Women have been neglected for ages. Our titles of Mother, Daughter, Wife are honored but we as individuals aren’t. We as females are considered to be inferior, but the opposite group forgets we are known to bear the values of strength, kindness & patience.

I don’t understand why women are known to be the weaker sex. Women are the ones who carry their child for nine months in their womb. Women are the one who give birth to life . Women are the ones who suffer through all the injustice & yet they still stand strong.

"A strong woman looks a challenge in the eye & gives it a wink." – Gina Carey

This poem by Nikita Gill is very inspiring. It portrays a woman's strength & unstoppable desire of ambition.

We have many female role models who we can look up to, who have faced many obstacles, but won their battles & proved that women too can be who they want to be & do what they want to do.

Indira Gandhi was the first female Prime Minister of India. Savitribai Phule is regarded as the first female teacher of India. Anandibai Gopalrao Joshi, first female physician in India. Mary Kom, the only woman to become World Amateur Boxing champion for a record six times. Lata Mangeshkar is known as the Nightingale of India. Priyanka Jonas actress, not only a famous Bollywood but also has a big name in Hollywood leading lady. Deepika Padukone is currently the highest paid actress in India. Lilly Singh, the first Canandian woman of Indian descent to be an American late – night hast.

To conclude women are strong & kind beings. Our strength lies within us. We admire & nurture our children. We love & care for our family. We are strong & powerful individuals.

Here's to STRONG WOMEN!
May we raise them.
May we know them.
May we be them.
