Movies You Got To Watch

I am a movie nerd. Since I was little, I loved watching movies. When I was in school, I knew everything about Bollywood. Which movie was releasing when, who starred in it, the actors, directors, producers, music composers, was the movie good or bad. I even memorised all the songs and learned the hook steps.

I am so in awe with cinema. The music, the emotions, the filming. So much time, efforts and hard work to bring a magical story to life.

Like I said I have watched many films, but these are my top 5 movies you can't miss, especially if you are a cinephile.

The Shape of Water (2017)

Written by : Guillermo del Toro and Vanessa Taylor
Director : Guillermo del Toro
Starring : Sally Hawkins, Doug Jones

This movie is magical. It even won the 90th Academy Award for Best Picture. Set in Baltimore in 1962, during the Cold War, is the love story of Elisa and The Amphibian Man. Despite coming from two different worlds, they understand each other, without speaking. Truly love has no language.

Promising Young Woman (2020)

Writer & Director : Emerald Fennell
Starring : Carey Mulligan, Bo Burnham

'Promising Young Woman' is a new take on revenge dramas. It's a realistic take. Trying to get over her past, and make things right, Cassie confronts the people who did her wrong. This movie accurately protrays the "nice guy" culture, and how women suffer for a Promising Young Man.

Searching (2018)

Written by: Aneesh Chaganty and Sev Ohanian
Director : Aneesh Chaganty
Starring : John Cho, Debra Messing

Searching is an American mystery thriller computer screen film. Set entirely on computer screens and smartphones, the film follows David Kim, trying to find his missing 16-year-old daughter Margot. Troubled and disstressed, he starts his own search which leads to unravel hidden truths.

Is Love Enough? Sir (2018)

Writer & Director : Rohena Gera
Starring : Tillotama Shome, Vivek Gomber

"The film strikes a delicate balance between social commentary and straightforward storytelling. While the writing is instantly impressive, the impact of the tale is enhanced by the quality of the lead performances by Tillotama Shome and Vivek Gomber. The duo helps the film sustain its purposefully understated tone even when the conflict points are at their sharpest. 'Is Love Enough ? Sir' is a wonderful little gem that tackles a difficult theme with admirable poise and precision." - Written by Saibal Chatterjee NDTV (Movie Review)

Lunchbox (2013)

An unlikely mistake by a tiffin carrier service results in Ila's tiffin, that was made for her husband, being delivered to Saajan Fernandes. An unusual friendship soon develops between the two.
