Indian Soap Operas With Surprisingly Good Stories
There was a time I used to watch tv serials religiously, but now thanks to web shows, I don't have the patience to go through ads. Also my taste in shows has evolved, I can't sit through the unnecessary drama. But there was a time when the Indian Tv Soap Operas had good shows, with really good story lines, not the regular saas-bahu ke nakhre.
Here are some Indian Tv shows that I enjoyed & you will too :
Hum Pannch (1995)
Anand Mathur lives with his five daughters, whose pranks annoy him. Moreover, he is pestered by the sarcastic comments from his first wife, who although dead, cannot resist interfering in his life.
I haven't watched the whole show but the episodes I saw were really funny. My parents used to watch this. Fun fact : Vidya Balan was part of this show.

Dill Mil Gayee (2007)
Young aspiring medical interns join Sanjeevani in hopes of becoming the best doctors. They go through many trials and tribulations and try to manage their professional and personal lives.
It was a sequel to the Star Plus series Sanjivani - A Medical Boon. There were 3 actresses who played Dr. Riddhima, but the best I liked was Jennifer Winget. She and Karan Singh Grover had the best chemistry on the show. In fact, I only remember them two.

Bade Ache Lagte Hai (2011)
Ram, a business tycoon, is forced to marry Priya, a middle-class woman. Later, they fall in love with each other but have to face many obstacles to stay together.
This show was different. The love story of someone in their 40s & 30s was rare. The reboot features Nakuul Mehta and Disha Parmar.

Kya Huaa Tera Vaada (2012)
Pradeep and Mona have been happily married for 12 years. However, things change when Pradeep meets Anushka, his ex-girlfriend, and decides to leave his wife for her.

Qubool Hai (2012)
Zoya, an NRI, comes to India to look for her biological father. However, when she meets Asad, a charming young man, she falls in love with him.
This show in the beginning was refreshing, but then got stretched. It was good till Karan Singh Grover & Surbhi Joyti were together. The show even has a reboot web series "Qubool Hai 2.0".

Meri Bhabhi (2013)
Kritika, the daughter-in-law of the Shergill family, develops a bond of friendship and trust with Shraddha, her sister-in-law. Together, they help each other through difficult times.
I started watching this show mid-way. I wished I watched it from the beginning. We are used to saas-bahu ke jagade, but this story was different. It showed women don't always envy each other, but rather support & encourage each other.

Ek Hasina Thi (2014)
Durga manipulates Shaurya to fall for her so that she can execute her revenge against him. However, when Dev enters her life, she finds it difficult to carry out her plan.
This show was so well planned & written. So much suspense. With every new episode, a new twisit. It ended on a cliffhanger. Which I wish did not happen.

Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi (2016)
After Dev loses his father at a young age, he gets very attached to his mother. However, his mother dislikes the woman he loves and keeps him in a position where he must choose between the two.
It was so refreshing to see characters like Dev & Sonakshi. Story of the third season was supposed be intriguing but didn't turn out as expected.
