Best Ingredients for Your Skin

Welcome to Part 2 of the Skincare series. Today we'll share how to pick products with ingredients which will be beneficial for your skin. The 3 main skin types we discuss are - normal, dry, and oily.

Hyaluronic acid is suitable for all skin types, especially for hydration. It is already present in our skin, so there won't be much side effects. As we age, the skin lacks hyaluronic acid, and it can lead to early signs of ageing.

Your face wash should be mild but just strong enough to remove all the dirt and not dry out the skin.

A toner can do different jobs, it can clean after a face wash, unclog the pores, and can also hydrate the skin. Choose wisely according to your skin requirements and the ingredients of the products.

People with normal skin type do not need a lot of hydration so a cream based moisturizer will be great.

Eye cream can be cream or gel based. (Pro tip : gel can give a cooling effect)

A serum with hyaluronic acid would be a cherry on the cake to your routine. It hydrates and smooths the skin.

Cream mask and sheet mask hydrates the skin, advised to use once a week.

Face wash should be very mild. A strong face wash will lead to more dryness. (Editor's tip : washing your face just once a day is more than enough)

Milk cleanser or a creamy hydrating cleanser will hydrate the skin after using a face wash. The cleanser is going to clear the stuff which is still on the skin even after face wash. (Writer's note : face wash cannot be skipped or replaced with cleanser. The skin needs to be dirt & sweat free, or else it will lead to clogged pores and/or acne)

A toner with properties of hydrating, calming and reducing irritation to your skin will be very helpful. This should be your criteria while looking for your toner, as most toners are meant for oily skin. The wrong toner can dry out your skin.

Dry skin needs a lot of hydration, so an oil based moisturizer is excellent. Other options are heavycream based  or moisturizers with hyaluronic acid. Moisturizing the skin when it's damp, will help penetrate it deeper in the skin.

Eye cream should be cream based

Sheet mask will do magic for dry skin as it holds a lot of serum which is easier for skin to absorb and hydrates very well.

Sleeping masks will help in hydration overnight.

Milk mask will also help hydrating your skin.

Detoxifying masks should also be included but check the ingredients.

There are some clay masks which will not completely dry out the skin, which consists of hydrating ingredients.

A foam wash or a strong face wash is great for oily skin, as there is production of excess oil, which can collect dirt, and cause many problems like clogged pores, acne, blackheads and white heads. Use a face wash which includes ingredients like neem, lemon and aloe vera.

Use a little soapy and creamy cleanser, as it will not completely dry out the skin. It will clean and hydrate the skin. Oily skin also needs to be hydrated.

Toner should be strong enough to clear the clogged pores. Everyday use of toner (for oily skin) can reduce production of excess oil, which further leads to acne.

Moisturizer for oily skin types should be gel based, as cream and oil based can produce more excess oil.

Eye cream can be both gel and cream based

Gel based serums are good.

Clay mask is best for oily skin as it extracts all the oil but still hydrates the skin. It can also reduce blackheads.

Sheet masks is good for all skin types, so for oily dehydrated skin it's the best.
