Hey Merfolks! I'm back, with pop-culture of the past and present. I can't wait to share my favourite shows and movies with you. For the next 6 months you'll hear from me every once a month. Today I'm recommending the best shows out there (that I have watched till date). Fun, drama, comedy, romance, suspence, sci-fi, a little bit of everything. Arranged chronologically, here are my favourite must watch tv & web series : Freaks & Geeks (1999) The show follows gifted high schooler Lindsay Weir, who befriends a gang of slacker 'freaks', and her younger brother Sam, as he & his geek friends navigate high school. WE. NEED. MORE. SHOWS. LIKE. THIS. Nowadays teenage drama series have so much sex in it. Shows are so intense and unrealistic. That's all fiction and fun to watch, but once in a while we need less drama and more relatability. Freaks and Geeks was so laidback and real. Being a teenager is tough, and so is highschool. He's gonna find out who's naughty or nice. Santa Claus is coming to town! We are in the last month of the year, & there's 12 more days to go before Christmas. It's the season of joy. Meeting family, attending midnight mass, having delicious sweets, & exchanging presents are all part of tradition. But worry not if you still haven't bought any presents.  Here's a list of easy last minute gifts for your loved ones, that all will appreciate : Gift Cards If you have no clue about what to gift relatives or friends, then just gift them a gift card from one your favourtite brands. You can even give them digital gift cards. This is a very good idea if you can't decide on something particular or it's perfect for when you don't the person or aren't that close, like extended family or a co-worker. There was a time I used to watch tv serials religiously, but now thanks to web shows, I don't have the patience to go through ads. Also my taste in shows has evolved, I can't sit through the unnecessary drama. But there was a time when the Indian Tv Soap Operas had good shows, with really good story lines, not the regular saas-bahu ke nakhre. Here are some Indian Tv shows that I enjoyed & you will too : Hum Pannch (1995) Anand Mathur lives with his five daughters, whose pranks annoy him. Moreover, he is pestered by the sarcastic comments from his first wife, who although dead, cannot resist interfering in his life. I haven't watched the whole show but the episodes I saw were really funny. My parents used to watch this. Since the past years, we have been blessed with many women-centric films, which were much long due. Whether it maybe a young woman discovering herself, or a mother seeking vengeance, these movies are an inspiration and representation that we needed. Below are some of my favourite movies which feature women in power. Jo March in 'Little Women' Kahaani (2012)  It's been a decade since this movie released. This movie had a plot twist that no one saw coming. Don't underestimate a woman on a mission, even if she's pregnant. Kahaani Movie Poster English Vinglish (2012)  Shashi is a small entrepreneur who makes delicious snacks. She flies to New York City to attend her niece’s wedding.  She enrolls in an English-speaking course, t o stop her husband Satish and daughter Sapna from mocking her lack of English skills.  Her attempt to learn the language helps her rediscover herself and reassert her value as a mother and a wife.
